Roman Schramm’s artistic works explore an innovative approach to the genre of photography. He is interested in a free approach to the image itself - the artist questions it intensively: what it can possibly be, how it is constituted and in what way it can be assembled and composed. His process of image formation is more like that of a painter than a photographer, which is reflected in different steps within his artistic practice: Objects, structures and colours are formed, assembled, found, edited in Photoshop and in 3D programmes, and staged in ever-changing ways. In the picture series "Big Sauce", images are interwoven or created with algorithms. This processing allows an extremely high resolution down to the smallest detail, while at the same time using very large image formats. The images thus always play with the spatial experience between near and far.
Roman Schramm (*1979) studied at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. Solo exhibitions were shown at Kunsthalle Lingen (2018), Kunstverein Jesteburg (2016) and Barlach Halle K, Hamburg (2016). His series "Big Sauce" was shown at Beers in London in July 2019.
