"Erddurchstechung" (Earth Piercing) is an idea. It is free from material laws and physical restraints. It has no rule to follow. It can do the impossible. It’s an ongoing series for which Felix Kiessling travels to two distant points of the world, each time anchoring a pole in the ground. Both poles are angled and precisely calibrated to form one common line and imaginary connection. For his next "Erddurchstechung", Kiessling plans to connect Italy and Palestine. The purchase of one of 10 handprinted certificates such as the ones shown here covers one tenth of the production costs, equalling one tenth of the connection between these points. Buyers of these certificates will not just purchase a work on paper, they will become patrons of the planned installation and enablers of the piercing of the earth.
