permanent marker on marble relief
Lukas Liese’s main artistic material is marble. Knowingly connecting to a long and traditional history of the precious stone Liese connects the material with the nature of our fast living digitality.
Liese is literally etching memes into the fragile stone preserving a random image that was meant to pass. This work has its roots in the series Foodporn depicting classical german eating habits and the need to share the meaty desire. And people love it - as you can see in the right corner the reaction emojis are going wild!
The approaches and interpretations can be varied: Is it hinting at the German image we carefully maintain? Is this an ironic reflection on the necessity of foodporn in social media? Is it maybe a criticism against the superficial and empty way we present ourselves and our lives in the world wide web?
