BJÖRN HEGARDT (born 1974) is a graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim, Norway and lives and works Berlin since 2001. In his drawings, Hegardt merges interior and architecture, creating new shape and content which balances schematic structure with organic chaos. The works always signal an assured grasp of tight compositions and a strong, graphic line. Hegardt has exhibited his work internationally, both in solo and group exhibitions, and is featured in “Vitamin D – New Perspectives in Drawing” (Phaidon, 2005) and “Beyond Architecture” (Gestalten, 2009) among others. Hegardt is the editor and founder of Fukt Magazine in 1999 - one of the few publications exclusively dedicated to contemporary drawing.
