"Every time I recall my nose" is a high quality knitted edition of 30 sweaters in 3-color jacquard, produced in cooperation with the TU-Chemnitz, Professorship Textile Technologies, and in collaboration with Georg Meier Strickmoden. Both drawings were made 1:1, in ink, as a graphic template for the translation of the motif into the knitting module. Small-format black-and-white emblems that accompany individual chapters of the ongoing book project "Love Song Chemnitz-Tel Aviv" served as a template. The special feature of the workmanship is that the sweater can be worn in 4 variations as desired; inside-out as well as back-to-front. All cut elements are form-knitted and locally made on demand, making this edition sustainable and resource-saving.
Since Chemnitz, formerly Karl-Marx-Stadt, can be understood as the trailblazer of the manufacturing textile industry in Germany until the end of the 80s, it is obvious for me to tie in with this unique tradition. With the reunification in 1989, unfortunately, all VEB’s in the textile sector were broken up by the Treuhand. Only one company survived the reunification, formerly VEB-Polar, today Maximo Strickmoden. Therefore, anyone visiting Chemnitz today should definitely take a look at the beautiful stocking collection in the Chemnitz Art Collections.
