The piece “II” is part of a series titled “Melting concrete 2”I. It is a signed print of a digital painting generated by machine learning algorithms (CLIP/VQGAN), which use one of the artist’s real-world canvas paintings as input material and the string of text “melting concrete” for the subsequent manipulation of the input image. By adding concepts in the form of textual vectors, the paintings develop into new directions and divert to different degrees from the content and form of the original paintings. How do machines interpret human input and vice versa? This question is at the core of this piece.
