The piece Quadrant of the Berlin artist Yannick Riemer is a part of the long term series CAVE CANEM, consisting of drawings, installations and paintings.
Quadrant deals with the complex interferences between our main tools of cognition: Knowing, Believing, Thinking. Inspired by the ground breaking work of Tycho Brahe (Astronomer, 1546-1601) in the time of the renaissance Riemer develops a multilayered imagery consisting of abstract and concrete forms which have their roots in profound theoretical research. Braches observations of the movement of celestial bodies led to an intense fight with the church and its believe of an earth centered universe, he as well experimented in the field of alchemy and in combining these approaches he was studying nothing less but the processes holding the world together. Riemer explores these transfers of knowledge and grants our scientific world within its imagery the mystery of the unknown, the constant option of discovery and the infinity of cognition. In a strong uprising dynamic the red spiral acts like the spine of the painting surrounded by its body of potential knowledge, mistakes, faults that lead to the right path and the beauty of the chaos.
The work was selected as the cover image for the new album Geheimnis of Isolation Berlin which will be released at the beginning of October 2021.
