The drawings belong to a series of 30 drawings "Stasizentrale Nr. ..." and are drawn from images Andrea Pichl photographed at the Stasi headquarters, showing sections of the interior of Erich Mielke and his office: the "banality of evil," so to speak.
The artist, who grew up in East Berlin and is active internationally, deals in her work with design features of the public and private space of the GDR as well as with the processes of reconstruction after German reunification.
