In her work, Nina Laaf deals with strategies of irritation, alienation, context shifting and questioning of visual habits. She investigates the nature of material-textures and their limits.
„I am interested in systems in the broadest sense - both human and industrial. I am passionate about modularity, which is reflected in my approach. The modular character of my work allows me to define spaces and describe them by means of my sculptures. Movements become visible, spaces want to be walked through.“ – Nina Laaf
Nina Laaf (*1977 in Hilden, Germany, based in Karlsruhe) studied at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe from 2010 to 2017 with Prof. Silvia Bächli, Prof. John Bock and Prof. Ulla von Brandenburg and completed her master studies with Prof. Harald Klingelhöller. In 2018, the artist received the Hanna Nagel Prize Karlsruhe and was a fellow at the Cité Internationale Des Arts Paris in 2019.
