These works are some of the first paintings produced by Berlin based artist, Jake Kent. They are experiments that combine patches from a collection of images spanning over 10 years. Mostly lo-fi photographs taken on phone cameras, they catalog the artist’s obsession with unintentional image making or "accidental paintings". The archive is dominated by by-products of industry and labour, where an unconscious salvagepunk aesthetic is created by limited access to finances and resources. Through subsequent digital manipulation, these scraps of debris, casual gestures and leftovers are combined to produce paintings that play at being simple collages but are deeply rooted in a conversation around the precarity of labour and class struggles.
