Fritz Räcke studied painting and graphics with Katharina Grosse and Werner Liebmann and completed his master class with Antje Majewski at the Berlin Art Academy ( Kunsthochschule Berlin ). His works move in the field of tension between abstraction and figuration, graphics and painting.
A recurring motif in his works is the constant confrontation between the primordial animal nature of man and the simultaneous longing for total control over all of his innate urges.
The transitions between ape, human and android are often fluid and manifest themselves in mutations that are constantly changing.
In many of his recent works there is a tendency towards the disolution of the figure. Instead, what remains of it are traces and fragments in the form of strangely dysfunctional infographics and surreal hieroglyphs in urban spaces that often seem deserted.
