Katie Armstrong (born 1988) uses painting, animation, poetry and performance to explore the often unremarkable things that influence our personal stories in the present. She often draws on her own emotional states and inner landscapes of images, memory and questions to find answers and seek human understanding. Armstrong is process-oriented, invoking analogue methods, repetitive action, improvisation and intuition. Her work is both personal and omnipresent. It is about opposites: mysterious and domestic, playful and serious, analogue and digital, stillness and movement. She searches for connections between herself and the world she lives in.
