Witalij Frese – born in 1992 in Alexandrowka/Russia, lives and works in Berlin. Although he studied painting, he is equally occupied with ceramics. For him, his vessels represent canvases onto which he applies his images and narratives. He combines traditional ceramic forms with social commentary to express himself. His starting points are personal and biographical themes and experiences, which are also expanded with fiction. He is interested in the inner states of people: Insecurities and fluctuations, the search for permanence.
The work "Eden" holds the paradisiacal theme around Eve, Adam and the serpent. They stand for the birth of sin, the end of nudity, the beginning of shame as well as masking.
