part of auction Chapter 6THE FAIREST is a fresh initiative launched in 2021 by Georgie Pope (Curator, Independent Collectors) and Eleonora Sutter (Associate Director, Boros Collection) to support young, emerging, or independent artists and creators. With an abundance of provocative, intelligent and curious talent, undermatched by exposure, THE FAIREST develops a new action for this. Artists, regardless of gallery representation or medium, typically without access to fairs, are featured in THE FAIREST. This action is to create a new fluidity, public platform and direct visibility in the art market.
Leading up to their annual main fair, THE FAIREST collaborates with different project spaces, hosting smaller scale teasers to introduce participating artists, who will collectively go on to be positioned in their main fair. Teaser 01 and Teaser 02 have culminated in 31 artists. The Co-founders value ongoing artistic support, both offline and online, which is unrestricted to their main event. Eleonora and Georgie envisage a variety of exchanges and formats taking place.
“Let experiments become attitude” is the first collaborative project of THE FAIREST, with a slot as part of Direkte Auktion, inviting artists new and existing in THE FAIREST family. “Let experiments become attitude” forms another chapter of THE FAIREST’s growing manifesto, implementing the title as a curatorial tool and making a call to action. In 1969 Harald Szeemann radically constructed the exhibition “When attitudes become form”–THE FAIREST extends this thinking and calls for broader practices, mediums, histories, geographies and realities to exist in ‘the system’.
